赤玉是日本北部某些地区由火山灰堆积而成，这也是在日本运用最广泛的一种栽培介质。

它是高通透性的火山泥，清新的黄色圆状颗粒，不含有害细菌，呈微酸性，其结构有利于持水和排水。

赤玉土PH值6.9，它的主要成分：二氧化硅42.7%，氧化铝25.1%，氧化铁8.4%，氧化镁2.5%，氧化钙0.98，氧化锰0.15%。

【优点】
赤玉土最大的好处就是低肥，微酸，透气，保水，以上4项几乎已经满足了大多数植物的生理需求，而对于多肉植物的生理特性来说，几乎已经做到了绝配。一般的初 级玩家在利用赤玉土进行多肉植物栽培时，无需太多的指点，都能养的不错，所以，赤玉土也可以称为“傻瓜用土”，它的特性使得多肉植物栽培的门槛大幅降低.
